Living Green

In late 2007, KPMG launched its Living Green program as part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility to reduce the firm's carbon footprint, the amount of waste generated and the natural resources consumed. Through local office Green Teams, the firm has been able to harness the power and passion of its people at a grassroots level to implement and drive environmental programs and policy changes that enhance KPMG's sustainability efforts. KPMG is committed to the environmental mantra known as the 4Rs: Rethink, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.

The 4Rs provide a foundation for Living Green and are put at the forefront of business decisions to create change in the way KPMG conducts its business. KPMG has experienced phenomenal success in a short period of time with Living Green. Sharing the success of the program, the U.S. firm released its first Living Green Annual Report in April, 2009. This report, the first of its kind to focus solely on the environment and carbon footprint measurement by a ‘Big 4’ firm in the U.S. highlights the success achieved through Living Green in the first twelve months of the program.

KPMG in the U.S. remains focused on its three-year goals to reduce its carbon footprint by 25%, paper consumption by 15 percent, increase the use of alternative transportation by 5 percent, and reducing the waste it generates by 10 percent. These are ambitious goals but we are confident they can be achieved through the overwhelming support and commitment of our people.
