Global internship program
Get Your Passport Ready!
What is the Global Internship Program?
The Global Internship Program allows interns to work for two KPMG member firms, the U.S. firm and another firm in the KPMG global network. Participants will begin their internship experience as part of the U.S. firm; then spend four weeks on global assignment for another KPMG member firm. While overseas, they will be assigned to major KPMG client accounts, working side by side with international KPMG teams. At the end of the rotation, interns complete the balance of their internship back in their U.S. home office. KPMG covers the costs for flights, lodging, per diem, local transportation, work visas, and other incidentals required by the program.
Why offer the Global Internship Program?
KPMG developed the Global Internship Program (GIP) as part of our continued efforts to advance our global connectivity, our recognition as a market leader, and the preparation of our professionals for global careers. Through the experience of working across borders, KPMG professionals can cultivate an international mind-set and gain valuable technical and cultural knowledge. Creating a global program for interns emphasizes KPMG's commitment to serving our clients with professionals who are prepared to respond to the global marketplace. To date, global interns have traveled to every continent except Antarctica!
How do I apply for the Global Internship Program?
Any student who accepts an internship offer with KPMG is eligible to apply for the Global Internship Program. Approximately 3-4 months prior to the internship, students will receive an invitation to complete an online application for the GIP. We expect to offer approximately 100 global internships for Summer 2009 and Winter 2010 with positions available in the audit, tax and advisory practices.
Some of the selection criteria include: previous international exposure, second language skills, and experience with multicultural environments. Language proficiency will be required for certain internship placements. In all cases, applicants must meet the work visa eligibility requirements of the hosting country. Interested students should speak with their local recruiter during the recruiting process.
